Youth Choreographic Festival
The Vancouver Global Dance Project (VGDP) is passionate about nurturing Vancouver's creative dance talent and aims to provide the next generation of choreographers with the tools they need to successfully produce and showcase original work. The VGDP Choreographic Festival is a unique opportunity for dancers who wish to take their ideas from initial conception and develop them into an original piece of choreography for a live audience.
Aspiring choreographers are invited to submit evidence of creative work to the VGDP Faculty, who will assess submissions based on clarity of idea, performance standard, its relevance to contemporary dance, awareness of form, and a sense of adventure, play and experimentation.
Successful applicants will receive the following:
- Feedback and support from a designated VGDP choreographic mentor
- Free studio time at The Landing Dance Center to develop and rehearse their piece
- DVD of completed work for future submissions/portfolio
- A slot at the VGDP Performance Series
How do I apply? Please submit evidence of your creative work and submit the relevant application form complete with DVD or video link to choreographic work by June 15th 2010.
